From beginning to end I was hooked. I was recommended the second book in the series but decided to start with the first and I'm so glad I did. I can't wait to start All The Painted Stars next.

I truly felt like I was in the world with the characters experiencing their emotions alongside them.

This story was R-O-M-A-N-T-I-C as all get out. I didn't give it a 5-star rating because the ending could have been better, but I was team Penn and Raff to max. This was so handsomely written and poetic. Even the love-making scenes (yes, they make love in this if that even happens anymore).

This gave me gay Bridgerton vibes with dashes of "Song of Achilles". Also, the voice narrators had the best voices and accents so I highly recommend listening to this on audiobook.

Gays in 1360s England? Soft touches? Teaching to protect oneself? Spice?! Perfection.

Literally only ONE note: Both Foucart and Foucalt are used to reference that character. Just a super minor thing.

Otherwise, perfection.
