Review of the Eden Trilogy

As with most paranormal-type books, I loved the first book and then fell off a bit with the following two. I still read them, I must finish a story, and they drew me in and touched me in all the ways a good book should but my hunger for them wasn't as strong as it was for the first. To me, this trilogy casts a new spell on paranormal love affairs. Bryn met and fell for William very quickly but very shortly after, her entire world changes and she couldn't be happier. She seems to be getting everything she ever dreamed of, until her new life turns out to be more complicated then expected. I found William and Bryn's love to be incredible and the moments they separated really tugged on my heart. I hurt for them in a way I normally wouldn't for two fictional characters. I recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a good romantic paranormal story.

Review
Loved it! There was so much depth and feeling in the characters. This is not your typical YA book where words are simple and used just to tell a story. The words in this book evoked feeling and were arranged in such a unique and beautiful way.
“There’s never been anyone but you, Bryn . . . ever. You’ve been that one shining star in the night sky, shining brighter than the others, until that’s all you can see in the surrounding darkness.” His lips rested over mine, for the shortest moment, before they fell away. “Your light is blinding.”

However, sometimes when an author is so good at painting a picture with the perfect choice of words they get carried away and the whole book becomes overly serious and poetic.  That is not the case here.  Yes, there are parts that are poetic, but there are also parts of witty, dry humor.
“You the one that got jumped?”
I didn't think my blood-matted hair and debris ridden clothes needed an answer, but he was waiting for one. Not the brightest crayon in the box.
I have not gone into any detail about the plot in my review.  This is intentional because so much of the story is unraveled throughout the book.  It wood be impossible to explain more without ruining your experience. I do want to say one thing thought... Do not go into this book ready to compare it to Twilight.  To me, it feels as if every YA romance is over analyzed until it can be compared to Twilight or called fan fiction.  A similar character personality does not make the book fan fiction.

I'm on to the next in the series now and I hope the same quality continues.

I got half way threw this book and it just seemed like it kept on repeating itself

Story idea is very interesting. Spelling/grammatical errors are distracting and very annoying. Spell-check anyone?? What happened to editing?

I'm very...on edge about this book. It was written well and the author clearly has a good vocab but the story itself grated on me. Firstly, it was waaaaay too similar to twilight (A book which i'm really not fond of,) secondly, the main character is one of those 'heroines' who tries to be strong and fails miserably. She was very down on herself, constantly, and it got annoying fast. She switched emotions so fast i thought i would get whiplash. Also it's inconsisitant. I may be wrong but i'm pretty sure Will said at one point that getting a 'betrothed' was a gift and that they could be refused, and yet Bryn is almost forced into one. Sigh. The only reason i finished this book was because I wanted to be able to say i'd read it all and disliked it all.

A powerful start with a strong, albeit cynical, main character, but both story and character falter several chapters in. One-third the way through and the book felt completely tied up with little hook to compel the reader forward. And by the second half, the main character had become a mushy, weepy damsel in distress whose existence was only predicated on her godlike boyfriend's.

By the end of this book, I was hooked, completely hooked!

However, the start of the book, I found it confusing and the normal build up on character development wasn't there, the description of each character wasn't there either, so picturing them was pretty impossible.

The plot seemed to jump forward without letting the reader know..

But, on a more positive note, I loved the overall plot, and the relationships - however, I do feel Bryn & William's needed to be developed more before the devoted themselves to spend an eternity together.

Getting to grips with the Immortal world was the hardest part, and needed to be explained a bit better and slower!

Finally.. WHY THE FUCK HAVE I JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS BOOK JUST NOW?!
