thank you to netgalley and to ava wilder for granting me early access in exchange for an honest review!

this book was funny, angsty, a little bit spicy, and gave me the perfect amount of stress. will they or won’t they is THE perfect title for this lovers to enemies to friends to lovers book of perfect chaos.

lilah, while a little obnoxious at first, was super relatable as i got to know her character. and shane?? lord have mercy. the banter was funny and the story was just great.

In theory like this but no. I was actively rooting for them not to end up together because they were so mean and so toxic. The sex was hot though but like no.

I found Shane and Lilah’s story to be easily readable, with me tearing through this book in 2 days, was cramming in chapters at random times so I could see what happened next! I typically don’t love dual timelines, but I really enjoyed the way Ava Wilder fleshed this one out. It gave background information on the characters in a well paced manner that kept me wondering, but not feeling so in the dark that I felt frustrated.

I had a soft spot for Shane’s characters, I found him to be vulnerable and earnest and sweet. Lilah, however, was just okay to me. I didn’t find her as endearing as Shane, and wish we could’ve gotten to know her better in the nearly 400 pages we spent together. But for some reason, her character just felt like it was missing something for me.

Overall, I enjoyed my time in this world, loved the subtle nod to HOW TO FAKE IT IN HOLLYWOOD (hey, Ethan), and I look forward to Ava Wilder’s next story!
