This book was so weird and quirky I loved it. I actually enjoyed the dual narrative surprisingly! I became invested in both of the stories very quickly. This book actually provided lots of twists and turns that I didn't expect. The endings of both the stories made my heart hurt (though more for Ostlet and Downing). The political satire was right up my alley. I know this book won't be for everyone, especially with the 2nd person narrative for Wilson's POV, but I fell in love with this book and could not put it down.

I (frequently) laughed out loud listening to this political satire about a young Congressman who unexpectedly receives a taxidermied aardvark at his D.C. townhouse. It's intertwined with an equally bizarre 19th century tale of the men who influenced the aardvark's history of being hunted and preserved. Fantastic narration in the audio version.

I found the story repetitive and extremely difficult to stay engaged with. Contained an excruciating amount of unnecessary detail that did nothing to further the plot or show us anything about the characters.
