Secrets, hiding the truth, hunting for facts from the night that changed everyone’s life.

Told in an odd mix of before, during, and diary entires that gave just a few of the perspectives. These methods get us through the journey to learn what exactly happened to Kit Malloy when she died a week ago.

I was drawn in to this read, but most of my desire to continue on was to find out who done it. I was afraid I would have to put the book down because you’re constantly having to pay attention to the chapter acknowledging the before or after. Not only that you have to really pay attention to the diary entries to know when they were taking place. Because of that I found I had to be 100% into the reading in order to truly know what’s going on and enjoy the journey.

Overall this was interesting but there were so many loving pieces, small details, and confusion in knowing who was narrating that I couldn’t dive all in like other reads. The path Tessa is on follows grief, need for the truth, and turning a blind eye to what’s really there. The challenges Tessa overcame to get to the truth felt like you were going through it with her.

I gave this a 3.75 stars because it was really hard to follow between then and now, especially with when the story’s “now” was. I did enjoy this as the novel progressed, but found it was a slow roller.
