This is a good story about women rising up in the military scene during WWII. It isn’t a book I would normally choose to read but I’m glad I did. I enjoyed the writing style and the pacing. The women faced a lot of hardships and it was empowering to watch them handle their emotions and get out of the hard situations.

I am a lover of Historical Fiction, and I especially enjoy WW2 books. I had never read anything set in Hawaii about the aftermath of Pearl Harbor. This was well written and gives a new perspective on life in the only part of the US to be attacked in WW2.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I enjoyed Sara Ackerman's writing in The Codebreaker's Secret (⭐️⭐️⭐️½), so I went right on to read Radar Girls and enjoyed it even more. The author does her research and pays great attention to detail. The characters are incredibly likable, and the story is neatly intertwined with information about the WARDS of WWII. Highly recommend.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance review copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed this book. The pace was fast enough to keep me entertained, but not too heavy that I didn't want to keep coming back. It was such a unique perspective of the war and of Pearl Harbor, not one readers usually encounter. There was strong character development and the relationship between the two main characters developed at a realistic pace -- no "insta-love."

My two complaints are that there were too many side-plots that made the story a little disjointed (did we really need the plot with the horse?) and I wasn't expecting the Christian content (I'm not religious).

Major CWs: one scene of sexual assault is described, death of father, war trauma, brief Christian themes.
