This book was incredible. If you like dramas, Greek myths, tragedies, or alternate retellings, you have to read this immediately. Instead of a secondary character to her husband's odyssey, Penelope becomes a dynamic and crafty woman. This is an excellent pairing with Madeline Miller's Circe, a retelling of the other main love interest of Penelope's husband. Penelope deserves for you to read her story, especially in such a unique and magnetic setting as this.
Graphic: Child death

The most important factor of this book is the style. It is written from the perspective of a Penelope already long dead. It does not shy away from stating that it is coming from a 21st century. Penelope's narrative is interspersed with the Maids' perspectives, giving the illusion of a classic play.
