The nineteenth-century English was very challenging. I struggled for a while, and eventually lost my interest.

i'd like to say that none of these characters are loveable. maybe this is what made the book interesting.

The book wasn't quite what I expected. I thought it would be a more romantic book but it's a pretty sad rough book with very complex characters who quite frankly aren't that likeable.
Still the chemistry is strong and somehow the story very compelling and it's a different storytelling than what maybe was the norm at the time. I do understand why it's a classic known piece of literature.
