People either love or hate this series, and I'm somewhere in the middle. Laurent seems irredeemable, though of course there's a tragic backstory that will give context to his actions. I just think in the decade since this book has come out, there are stories with similar themes that have been told better.

Is the book a beautiful story about people who mutually respect each other? No. Is it an amazingly written enemies to lovers and it makes people uncomfortable because they think they’ve read enemies to lovers when they haven’t? Yes. If you cannot look over the fact that this is a work of fiction and won’t read the summary which says HE IS A SEX SLAVE do yourself a favor and maybe don’t read it?
