This is where the books start diverging from the movie and I think for the better. Makes me feel like Envy Adam's character is much more redeemable

Scott Pilgrim is part of the "random" era of the nerd culture (like asdf movie and all that), and this kind of humour isn't so used anymore so it felt weird - but in a good way. It brought me back to the kind of things I used to watch online when I was younger. The jokes are so far-fetched and stupid yet clever at the same time (like the "is this your natural hair colour ?" *note : this book is in black and white*...). These are just things I find really funny. I don't think I'll ever get over the vegan joke because it's so good.

The clear advantage the movie adaptation has over the novels is the presence of Brie Larson as Envy Adams singing "Black Sheep". There. I said it. I know that is an unfair judgment because the movie came after the books, BUT that's the comparison I'm going off of. Anyway... This installment gives more background on Scott and Envy's relationship, which is one of the driving points of the novels and explains a lot of why Scott is so bad at relationships. Plus, the title, Scott Pilgrim & The Infinite Sadness, is amazing... and relatable!

O'Malley continues with the story of Scott Pilgrim and we get a closer look at Envy who I'd happily read an entire comedy series about.
Scott is still an ass. Ramona is still changing her hair. Wallace is still a wonderful human being. And Knives is still a little hung up on Scott.
The writing and artwork are as creative as always and as the story moves forward, we get more familiar with the exes Scott must face so ex number 4 must be even more interesting.
I can't say anything without giving away spoilers - just read and enjoy the entire series. I'm off to read volume 4.
