Painful, powerful. I loved the writing style. I’m sure I didn’t get everything of this book. But this is a powerful sad ride on words. Stories. Lives. It’s too much about men, if you would ask me. But don’t ask me.

still powerful today

Still relevant today as well. Will need to see if I can watch the Tyler Perry version of it submerged. Quick read, but heavy and beautiful too.

From Bianca. I never read the play but seen it. I appreciate its cultural significance.

Powerful! I watched a performance of this after reading it (the 1982 version, featuring the author) and it was really great. It brought even more life to it but it also contextualized the intro even more and to see the life of this piece as it has grown and changed.

Favorite Quote: “I cdnt stand being sorry & colored at the same time. It’s so redundant in the modern world.”~Lady in Orange

This play is a must read for every Black Woman. An honest and true eye into friendship, heartache, abuse, grief, forgiveness and so much more. Every Black Actress should have it in their rolodex.
