I’m always fascinating by what books have really influenced people’s thinking and for that, this book ticks all the boxes. It made me consider what I would say are the most important books for me- a really hard task to sift through all the reading and plump for just a few.

This book is about books and the different life stories. It is like a Will's memoir told by books he has read. How they effected him and his life. Will talks about several books and what they meant. It isn't necessary his top books. This book was perfect for me to read right now. Just like in his story, some books just have a way of standing out. You need to read me now. Thanks Will.
In school I hated English class and reading. Now in my 50s I realized I need to read or listen to more books. I finally got into books 2 years ago. I found it interesting that Will mentions one of the few books I remember from high school. "The Good Earth" by Pearl S. Buck. I don't remember it much but after reading Will's book, I am going to add it to my "to read" list.

This was a delight to read. Like having a long conversation with a friend over tea about books.

I do like me a book about books. In this one, Schwalbe gives a list of books with valuable advice on living and ties them into various points in his life. Plus, you have to like a guy who believes that “Reading and naps, two of life’s greatest pleasures, go especially well together.” I added plenty of books to my TBR thanks to this one.

Always a sucker for a book about books. I liked the format. A different universal theme for each chapter (e.g. slowing down, searching, trusting, solving problems, quitting, traveling etc.) and a book(s) to represent that theme, with references to applicable events and aspects of the author's own life. Makes me wonder books I would pick to represent those themes, and what my applicable life stories might be. Wasn't crazy about all his book selections (e.g. A Little Life, The Girl on the Train); he makes a point of saying the books he selected are not necessarily all favorites of his but I have to believe he liked them more than I did. Came across a few more books to add to my to-read list.

Another all-time favourite. The author introduces us to books that have made an impact in his own life, and shares more of his story and who he is. He truly has a way with words. The book was moving and inspiring. It has reinforced my own love of reading, and I've added several new books to my "TBR" as a result.

I had forgotten so much about this book. I really enjoyed it the second time around, too!
