I'm sad this is the last book in the series. I'm not sure I loved it more than Smoke and Mirrors, but definitely loved it. I love how much Tony as a character has grown from the original series. Definitely reading the rest of the books that I can from this author.

I love this and I love, love, love, love Tony and am so, so, so, so sad that there are not more books with Tony.
I like the story. I love that the crew of "The Darkest Night" starts to feel like family. That they care about Tony and help him defeat the demons. I love that Henry realizes that Tony is a power of his own.
I love it.

Still a fun read, but it plot-wise it was pretty much a (improved) reworking of the first book. There wasn’t anything in the way of a overarching series plot either, just the same characters and the resolution of the background will they/won’t they thing Tony has going with Lee.
Overall (coming in as someone who didn’t read the original series), I’d say the series is not anything amazing but is enjoyable and incredibly easy to read. It’s very plot driven and pretty light on the characters - there’s a fascinating cast of supporting characters, but the author doesn’t seem to know what to do with them.

This cannot be the end of Tony's adventures. I hunger for more, I need more. The best scene was when Tony woke and stopped Henry from unleashing the full on "Prince of Darkness" and then Henry pounced him. Hehe.

Finally got hands on this one. To my dismay looks to be the last of the series. Sums up angles superbly, but that doesn't mean I won't miss the characters. The plot was good and its obvious tonys powers have really grown. The story confused me some and is highly fantasy orientated. Showdown had a small, cool twist. Kudos to hear from Vicki as a bonus for the last book although since ht elast two books of the blood series I can't stand Vicki and tensed up with the scene here. I loved how relationships played out with Tony and his interesting, just sad the books are over. Henry was around moe than the last novel and a conversation he has with Tony at the end shows how much they have really changed. I suppose change will always be inevitable.

You probably wouldn't be reading this unless you like Tanya Huff and this series. It's fun and light for Buffy-style demon/vampire/wizard urban fantasy. Perfect dorky read for public transit except that the cover made me want to obscure it from public view.

I loved this series and am so sorry it is over. I bought an anthology just for a short story entitled Blood Wrapped with Tony and Henry and it was good...like a tasty dessert after a big meal. I wish there was more. These stories are dense and packed with detail and excitement.
After rereading in 2018 my sentiments remain the same and now...why didn't I mention the title of the anthology so I can go have dessert. Want more Tony.

Third in the Smoke series and maybe better written than the previous offerings, Smoke and Ashes was just two days of total fluff reading. I'm cool with that. I mean, queer characters exist in this universe--heck, in this book there's a spectrum of sexuality and everything. It's super convenient and comforting to me that one of the main character's acknowledged superpowers is eerily correct leaps of logic. (It's lazy writing, but I have no problem with lazy writing when it *makes sense*. Building in character traits to make the author's job easier seems like a great plan to me.) It just makes everything so much easier, and I can relax and let the fun paranormal adventure novel take its course.
