A writing book that is more close to the fantastical and imaginative properties of writing. Beautifully illustrated, with tons of writing exercises and advice from all sorts of authors. Sometimes it gets a little bit surreal and dives too deep into abstract, flowery explanations - but you can dig through it and get some genuine writing advice out of it.

I recommend buying a physical copy, however. I read it as an e-book and many of the illustrations/exercises/diagrams are not legible in a digital format.

This book was assigned for a fiction writing course I'm taking and while it's a pretty heavy read - definitely one I needed to take a single chapter at a time with solid breaks before moving to the next - it was very well-stocked with useful advice, methods and ideas. I appreciate that there is such a whimsical and strange vibe to the illustrations, but yes, like others have said, it does feel like interruptions. Definitely feels worth keeping to continue pulling from though.

Take away: The benefits of the book were overshadowed by the length. The ebook was organized differently than the audiobook so following along was confusing.
Narration: Three narrators and all were good.
Normal Speed - Accelerated Speed
New  - Second - Third - Committed
Series - Non Series -
Non-Fiction - Author
Listening to this book was a chore.
I'm glad I listened to this book.
I didn't want this book to end.

I could not wait to be done with this book.
Average, but better than anything I've written.

The art didn't resonate with me, but the advice often mirrored my thoughts, and it's always pleasant to see confirmation of your thoughts in other.

The first illustrated guide to creating imaginative fiction combines essays by successful authors with a visual voyage into the craft itself. Beginning writers as well as seasoned ones can benefit from this dense guide’s familiar concepts creatively repackaged into a road map of artwork both spectacular and strange, covering everything from worldbuilding to charting story arcs to drafting strategies. The execution is absolutely brilliant, compelling us to experience the writing process in dynamic, insightful ways. As a fantasy fiction writer who learns best visually, I instantly put THE WONDERBOOK at the heart of my reference arsenal. Don’t wander into the foothills of exposition without it!

Good book, but I don't have time for a new hobby. Come back to if I can start writing regularly

This was not a book for me. The inside is very right brain creative art and imagry to go along with what should be left brain analitycal substance for the creative process of writing. In my eyes; which are now very soar; this is a mismash of good intent with horrible execution. Many people will enjoy this book; which is fine for them; but this is not educational in the least bit. The prose is written like a drug-induced author who has high pretentions of themselves had time and the desire to create something 'different' for those who want to write a novel. The art is not good (like chidlren's drawings) and while they 'god with' the text; this only makes the book more confusing. This is utter garbage and I will be trying my best to sell this book, if the used book store will even take it.
