What a fascinating story; the premise is fantastic & i feel like there was maybe some underlying, almost poetic, metaphors in there too. I will say it got real wild real fast towards the end there - definitely not for the faint of heart, so beware. But despite the extreme body horror, i really really liked it.

His Pain is a novella wrote by hardcore horror author Wrath James White; who has built up a reputation for bringing visceral and intense horror tales to the public.[return][return]This book is about a lad called Jason who is born with a rare condition which means that every sensation gives his immense pain meaning he is forced to live a very sheltered life. One day his mother sees a monk on TV who can teach people to overcome pain so she contacts him and asks for help for her son. But no one could expect what happens next....[return][return]The book is well paced and whilst it's not scary does feature enough shocking and stomach churning moments which are expected from Wrath's books. if your a fan of 'splatterpunk' then buy this book[return][return]3.5/5

Right, so I really tried hard to appreciate this for what it was. But, actually… I think it was really bad.

"Something ripped as Melanie contracted both her abdominal and kegel muscles
and pushed with all she was worth. The infant split open her sex as its body
progressed through her cervix, dilating it as if she were being raped by an
elephant."

The opening to the book. Brace yourself. This book is insane. I thought to start with this story was going to be a flop for me, but it quickly turned itself around. The events that take place in this book are absolutely insane, but it is so well written, that the author explains the actions of the characters is such a way, that it completely makes sense, even though you know what is happening is completely wrong, but it is completely right for the characters. It is hard to explain, but its a manic crazy great story. I loved it. I think the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I didn't want to come across as a complete sicko.... but I did love it.
