I flew through this book. It’s a very well thought-out, exhaustive account of Leah Remini’s life in scientology and it offers an interesting look into a secretive “”religion”” (cult).

I love Scientology exposes and this one is especially juicy. My other book right now is War and Peace which is surprisingly engaging so all the books I listen to in the mean time have got to be light. If you're a fan of learning more about this crazy cult pick this one up.

This is a humorous memoir, not just about Scientology, but also about Leah Remini's life and experiences in Hollywood. Interesting, funny, and exposes how celebrities are treated in Scientology, which is quite different from the way other members are. I always loved Leah Remini in King of Queens and am thrilled she left the Church.

During our last book club meeting, a few of us got on the topic of Clearwater, FL and Scientology, which turned into talking about documentaries and celebrities who are part of it, which then turned into a "hey, maybe this should be our next book club read!"

And here we are! I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this and how much I learned, (although, honestly, the only thing I knew about Scientology before was "Tom Cruise jumping on a couch.") But this was really eye-opening -- and talk about how WILD Scientology is! One big YIKES. There's so much I couldn't believe happens and that people are just ok with it -- the amount of money spent? The time spent PER DAY? The rules? The lack of child (and let's face it, adult) labor laws? And so much more.

Please, run way from this madness of a "religion."

I truly loved this book. I learned a whole lot of new terms. And everything that she went through and with her family.
She is a great actress and I do hope she continues on with telling her side of the story with everything.

Wow. Pray for the conversion of Scientologists. This was fascinating.

This was an eye opening look at Remini’s life, acting career, and her escape from Scientology. It’s heartbreaking, brutal, nauseating, and on occasion even a little bit funny. Remini’s voice really shines through and her frankness and comedy made for a really compelling read.

Admittedly I didn’t know much about Scientology going in; I had a vague idea to expect but was absolutely FLOORED at the extent of the abuse in this book. The way Remini chronicles her experience with Scientology is nothing short of shocking. You can see the allure of the religion and how they initially prey on people, then begin to weave in abuse and psychological manipulation gradually. By the time Remini hits the peak of her involvement with the Church it’s like a car accident - you want to throw up and look away but you just can’t.

This was incredible and I need to mainline her TV series, stat.
