Alias Grace is the most ‘Handmaid’s-coded’ Atwood novel I’ve read in a while, and man, I missed it. Lots of research to do now, though 😅

Interesting characters, but poorly plotted. The shifting in narrative voice is effective in theory but seems scattered and for-the-sake-of-it in practice. Could have been 200 pages shorter.

I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would! Although it could easily have been a book of half the length I think. I went back and forth with the core mystery throughout the narrative, but I actually spent more time reflecting on Grace's upbringing and her narrative voice, which is really strong.
