This was a lot.  Wow.
I've seen a lot of white reviewers complain that this book wasn't thrilling, wasn't creepy.  As a white person myself I'd just like to ask if they read the same book.  This book was the definition of unsettling.  The creepiness, the dread, it starts in chapter one and never stops from there.
I loved Sydney and Theo.  I loved how easily I could get into both of their minds, how well fleshed out and how human they both were.  Both were so flawed but had such good intentions, and I was rooting for them both the entire time.

Great blend of real world gentrification and racism in action with a thriller/suspense story line.
The ending was a bit too quick and convenient compared to the slow build up and long character development

I think about this book alot and have been wanting to talk about it alot. The thriller elements definitely stressed me out, in a good way?

Loved this book. Such a great first thriller to start the year. The obvious message of the book was there, and the micro aggressions from even the “good guys” pushes the narrative forward.

Alyssa Cole, who simply cannot pick a slay, has come for my edges yet again. I was so haunted and enthralled by this book the whole way through. As with her other books, this was very well researched. I also genuinely didn't know what was going to happen throughout. I do hope that this gets turned into a movie or TV show. I just loved this so much.
