generations of pain and love and loss and hope and trauma condensed into 300 pages. beautifully written. though we only get what seem like small chapters for each person’s story, we learn their stories through everyone that comes after them and we know stories of those who come before them.

An incredible read. Devastating and beautiful, and very well researched. I learned so much and had my heart break for the experience shared by so many people across time. Each chapter was completely absorbing, I loved every minute of this.
