As everyone can tell, this story is a Cinderella inspired story. I’m not a huge fan of Cinderella, however this story was SOO CUTE despite it. I genuinely enjoyed it as much as A Viscount Who Loved Me. Until Benedict wanted Sophie to become his mistress. It was going so well and he just had to BLOW IT. I was crying when he asked I just wanted him to ask her to marry her but no he wanted to make her his mistress. And when they finally make love he still expects her to accept his proposal of being his mistress. I was shocked when they did it as Sophie is the type of girl who would wait for marriage even throughout the book she would say how she should despite not being in society (or an legitimate daughter) she is still a women which I don’t care people have opinions on purity (side of you deciding for yourself) but when they finally make love Benedict expects her to move in with him like no that’s not what’s happening. But when he decides to finally marry Sophie and he realizes that Sophie was the mysterious lady from the ball I was just clutching my book with my mouth wide open. I was hoping he would shrug it off after and ask her to marry but no he huffed and puffed all angrily spewing out how he can’t stand to see her. And then Sophie got caught thanks to Posy’s big mouth and got sent to jail because of Araminta’s false accusations of her stealing only for it to be Posy stealing from her made me laugh at Araminta. I did appreciate Benedict rushing to jail and even saying that Sophie is “his fiancée” it was perfect and I loved it. But I especially loved Sophie during this whole story. She is honestly one of my favorite female characters in this series. I can’t wait until the Bridgerton series do their story. But it was the 2nd epilogue that made me more intrigued. Posy and Hugh Woodson being smitten for each other at first sight and them not talking cause they were gawking at each other. Amazing. Just perfection. I loved seeing the interaction between Benedict and Sophie being overprotective over Posy even as Hugh and Posy kiss mere minutes seeing each other which I did find it weird since they’re in their late 20s to 30s but it was still cute.
The bath scene was very intimate but it wasn’t making me blush intimate more like “aww he’s taking care of her” and it made me smile to see that Sophie got what she wanted at the end. I did wish Sophie had more resistance to Benedict since she had said that she wouldn’t sleep with someone as she is still a lady and I thought she would follow through with it but again I don’t mind it.
Besides the whole factor of Benedict being an ass to Sophie and thinking with his dick by asking Sophie to be his mistress, this is my favorite story out of the series.
