DNF at 25%. Boring and cringe. Didn't care

i might be in a minority here but to me this just...wasn't very good. the concept itself seemed quite fresh and interesting, but the execution wasn't there. i wasn't invested enough in any of the characters to care about their fate (so the ending fell really flat), some twists i just couldn't understand the point of, and something about the structure just seemed...off. maybe a more signposted layout and a couple of dozen more pages of backstory may have benefitted this? either way, i wasn't interested at all and i was rushing to get it finished. i'd probably recommend Pitcher's other YA crime/thriller, This Lie Will Kill You, over this.

3.5 another hit from this author's thrillers, there just such addictive reads though I just found this one a little predictable.

Triggers: loss of a parent, mention of neglect, abuse, mentions of self harm and wanting to commit suicide, inpatient treatment, substance abuse, being kicked out for being gay

Okay I definitely wasn’t planning on reading this book all in one go but I could not put it down, I was intrigued from the start and just had to know what happened and I’m glad I did because I really enjoyed it.

I thought the characters were so complex and interesting as well as a little bit over the top and very catty

This wasn’t for me. It is twisty for the sake of being twisty and beyond far fetched.  It’s YA and feels like it’s trying way too hard to be all things to all people and failing.

It’s not awful and no doubt some will like it but for me it was meh with touch of annoying!

I love how accessible the writing style is in Chelsea Pitcher's book and, despite their shorter lengths, her novels are still able to add a lot of depth to the characters and really have you empathise and feel for them, just wanting to protect them. I had my theories of who the killer may have been but all my theories were wrong and I was pleasantly surprised. I liked how the tragedy brought people closer and had truths revealed throughout and our four main characters were just incredible and all deserve the world.

It's so funny that a lot of the book's problems could have been solved by adding locks to the windows in the town (not nailing them closed lol)
