Mmmm I wish I liked this more. And besides the few odd comments about Cara’s body and feelings about other women’s bodies at the beginning I really did like this book. If the ending had been different, I would have given it more like 4.5 stars but honestly, that third act reveal 😬 yikes. I wouldn’t have forgiven Ryan, but ig I love Cece and Schmidt from New Girl so maybe I can accept that Ryan and Cara end up together.

Honestly my favorite parts were the absolutely SNARKY banter, the female main character’s growth (and her overall personality), and the dog! Oh, and Italy!

The conflict in this book…oof! Messy AF and if it was my life I would probably have done most of it differently. I get Kara’s thought process but I don’t. VERY mixed feelings about it, especially after reading reviews. (Read some spoilers if you are worried about triggers!)

Still, because the of stuff I liked, I’ll go ahead and give it 4⭐️. Honestly, I’m just a sucker for good sarcasm!

A cute second chance romance. The twists and turns are not ones that made me root for them to be together and that’s the only reason why it’s not 5 stars. I just ended up feeling like the protagonist could do better (Liam!) but then she didn’t. Also the epilogue felt unnecessary.

But it was cute and had a sweet happily ever after with a book inside a book which I loved. It’s a good beach read for sure.
