this book is truly a triumph. i’ve read it 4 times now, the most recent being yesterday, where i read it in one sitting. the writing is truly so poetic at points. it is mysterious and tragic and hopeful. the way the author builds the plot is truly remarkable. it follows Miranda, a twelve year old girl in New York City who finds mysterious letters all around her. she slowly unfolds the story, trying to figure out who is writing to her. The story follows her and her best friends Annemarie and Colin, as well as the boy who lives downstairs, Sal, her childhood best friend who has drifted away from her. It is written in the second person at points, the book being addressed to the person leaving her the letters. Though it is a Middle Grade book, i would absolutely recommend reading this at any age. So well written. definitely one of my favorites of all time.

This is my second time reading this, however, the first time I read this was when I was in sixth grade. (which was 4-5 years ago LOL)
  • Tbh, would def be a five stars if my standards for what I rate five stars wasnt super strict.
  • This book really felt like we were watching what the world is like from a twelve years old perspective, it really brought me back to middleschool
  • Hard to put down, and was SO interesting. it felt quick to read since the chapters were really short
  • I love the family dynamics shown, especially Miranda and her mother and the two of them with Richard
  • I love the formatting, too good.
  • The writing feels so real, and really paints a picture in your head of the scenery.

LOVE THIS BOOK TBH
