Na-ja.

The story is a bit silly and the characters are all a bit dumb, but it was a cute story overall. A disenchanted (and silly) wife realizes she really does love her husband. The truth of a cheating scandal comes out. A cruel and evil villain gets his just desserts. Kind of. :)

And this was her first novel written as a teen. Not too shabby.

A thoroughly enjoyable read - but, then, Georgette Heyer always is.

This is Heyer's first novel and it certainly shows - it's way too melodramatic with thin characters - but the bones are definitely there and that's what made it enjoyable. And the scenery-chewing villain.

I did not particularly care for most of this, as I felt like the focus of the story was very unclear. It is just fine to spend time on multiple viewpoints/character development, but this one, as a whole, was unsatisfying. I believe this might have been one of Heyer's first works, and it does show.
