I was expecting something a bit more. It has not trumped the show. Could be because I know what will happen and that’s why I find it lacking. There are no usual pet peeves of mine - the characters are well developed, the dialogue is ok. Maybe I could do without the transcripts of the interviews after the fact. However, what makes this book good is that the writers of the TV series could’ve taken it all, and almost copy paste it to create something quite brilliant.

This was an amazing book! I kinda want to give it 5 stars but something is holding me back. Very well written, I sorta liked the flashback-like things, sorta didn’t, they really didn’t seem necessary in the end but they definitely kept the flow of the book going. Author did a great job of including humor im a sad story that tackles many issues. Great “twist” at the end. One thing that really bothered me was acc very insignificant, but the author used a bunch of the same names for characters as in What Alice Forgot (one of her other books). It was so confusing, because I originally thought that maybe the books were connected, but no, the author just was using the same names for completely different characters. lol

First, I read this mostly as an audio format and that narrator is *chefs kiss* amazing! I'll be looking for more by that narrator to read!

I love a book that gives you a peek at the climatic action and then goes into everything leading up to it. I get so into trying to understand what led to the opening event. That's what happens with this one. Although, the climatic moment is seen from an observers POV (so very little detail is given away - which is perfect!)

The three interwoven stories of our 3 FMCs were beautifully written, and easy to tell apart by keeping it all written in 3rd person (the reason why is all told by the end). The rest of the structure of the novel is good too with interview style mixed in with the narrative.

I am now a Liane Moriarty fan, and may go watch the series based on this...

This was such an unexpected five stars for me! I was so invested in the characters and story it was hard to put down. On the surface it seems like a very superficial book filled with Karen’s and petty drama but underneath are very dark and serious themes. I also love the teasing of the mystery in the beginning and end of the chapters.
