this was hard to get into at first and that initial disorientation kind of tainted the rest of my experience reading it. i’m sure i’ll be able to appreciate it more once i spend more time with it though.

- Long build-up to a quick climax nicely parallels the political satire (?) of the novel. Appreciated that there was no simple solution to complex political situations, too easy of a trope to fall into.
- Great characterization; sometimes a bit heavy-handed on some of the allegories for specific characters. Appreciated especially some of the 'bit' characters; esp. Professor Okong.
- Great descriptions of mythological tie-ins (Igbo and other West African influences).
