I was expecting more of a page turner but this book felt pretty slow for the most part. I didn’t really get into it until the last 75ish pages. The ending was interesting though....will there be more??

Poorly written. Cheesy. Unconvincing characters.

promising premise that just fell pretty flat for me. the main character wasn’t a terribly good detective given that’s supposedly her profession - especially that she finally figures out who the killer is by
sniffing a mask very deeply and picking up a whiff of chlorine??

frequently clunky writing too, that often tells rather than shows, e.g.
when Lucas is being confronted about being silent after witnessing his sister’s rape, his reaction is described and then it’s something like “Elin can tell he feels guilty”. have more faith in your writing ability and your reader’s literacy skills!

I was intrigued and enjoying it initially, though, and the suspense at a key point around the middle of the book was great - it’s just a shame that for me, it lacked that same tension in the ending

Enjoyed every part of this tale in a secluded, snowy resort in the mountains. I’m the beginning, the character was a bit immature but it did get better and I’m glad I stuck through it.

Honestly pretty good. Not the best mystery I've ever read, but still good

I never read thrillers, but I love the Sanatorium. The book wasn’t without its flaws and I wasn’t a massive fan of the ending. But the atmosphere is the book is so chilling and exciting. I couldn’t put it down, it was an absolute page turner.

Ultimately, the book is a who done it. It felt a lot like Clue meets the House on Haunted Hill. I had no idea who was responsible for the crimes until the end! I kept notes on who I thought was the murderer along with the evidence. My answer kept changing!

Many of the negative reviews noted they were stuck on the protagonist being unrealistic. I didn’t find this to be the case. The main character, Elin, is a detective who is on leave from her position after a traumatic incident. She clearly has PTSD, and is rusty at the job. I just didn’t find her an issue in the plot.
