*I received a free copy of [title] from [publisher] via Edelweiss. This has in no way influenced my voluntary review, which is honest and unbiased *The Takeover Effect was an excellent story on absolutely every level! A boardroom thriller / romance, it kept me riveted from start to finish.
Add in a very strong and intelligent female lawyer, and a strong-minded, honest oldest son in charge of his own company coming back to save the family, and you have a recipe for greatness!

After leaving his family’s company to start his own, Hemdeep receives a call from his brother and finds out that his father has had a heart attack and a company is trying to purchase the family business. Hem immediately flies home to help his family. Mina’s number one goal is to takeover the firm that her mother built. Her uncle assigns her to work on the committee that is reviewing whether or not Hem’s family should sell the company. He tells her she should lie regardless of her findings and state the company should be sold. Hem and Mina have instant chemistry, but Mina is more concerned with keeping their relationship professional.

I LOVED this book and I cannot wait for the second book in the series to come out! Hem and Mina are goals from the start. Their chemistry is sizzling and I was here for all of it! I think this book is a fantastic example of an alpha hero and alpha heroine pairing. I was also really into the whole corporate espionage aspect of the book. I really thought their work would equal conflict between Hem and Mina and it didn’t! There was a very obvious path Sharma could have taken for potential disagreements between Mina and Hem and she didn’t. I found the writing in this book to be exceptional and I can’t wait to read more from her!

I picked this up since I remember liking Raj’s story when i read it a few yrs ago. Unfortunately Hem is my least favorite kind of romance lead, I don’t like the overbearing alpha male thing and he had very little character growth. The fast pace of the book also made their intense feelings seem unbelievable lol
That being said, the food descriptions were fantastic and had me craving giant paper dosas and sambar.
