I reread this for the first time in many years as I'm using it as one of the selections for my Victorian Sci-Fi and Fantasy Literature class. I enjoyed the first part, but Looking Glass has always been drier and less exciting to me---I don't enjoy it as much. My reading was enhanced this time around though since I've done some reading about Carroll and his relationship with the Liddells, the family of the real Alice. It was fun to see so many nods to them and things they did, people they knew, etc. sprinkled throughout the stories.

I just reread Alice for the first time in about four years and Through the Looking Glass for the first time in probably 15 years. I've never really loved either one of these but Looking Glass is still a struggle for me to get through. I like the idea of all this...but the actual story bores me to tears! ha!

I’ve finally done it. After years of wanting to read the original text of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, I’ve finally done it. And my, oh my, it was an adventure. I loved all of the funny tidbits and wordplay. There was a lot in here that hasn’t made it into the retellings and movies based off it. I loved all the drawings in the book because they were the perfect accompaniment. This book deserves its classic status and I love it immensely.

Gewoon super leuk om eens te lezen. Het eerste verhaal was top, maar het tweede, Through the looking glass, kon ik niet altijd even goed volgen, vooral door het ouderwetse Engels.

I'm currently going down a rabbit hole (HA!) of Alice in Wonderland retellings, but I hadn't actually read the original or Through the Looking Glass before. I've had this beautiful edition on my bookshelf for years now, so I figured it was time to finally read them. I loved them. And now I can better spot all the references. Also, the White Queen is super underrated.
