I have thoroughly enjoyed this book and all the issues it raised. I would definitely like to learn more about the internment camps in America during the war.
Originally I would have said I don't see why this is horror in any way, but in hindsight if looking at it from the historical view, the horror is the very real fact that America still hasn't learned anything. For a country claiming to be "home of the free" there is a disturbing amount of oppression and racism, which never seems to get any better.

This is my second Alma Katsu book, and I absolutely loved “The Hunger”. I like the fact that the author wrote about the Japanese internment camps, I do not believe we get enough representation of that part of American history in novels. However, I feel like the author tried to incorporate too many aspects in this story and it for too jumbled up. I did learn about the balloons that I have never heard mention before, but I don’t think this all panned out well for the storyline.
