I tried, and failed, to read this book several times when I was Kate's age. I had every single last The Babysitter's Club, Little Sisters and wanted to read anything by Ann M. Martin. Unfortunately, anytime I got a quarter or halfway through Doll People, something was uprooted in my life and I never got around to reading it until now. What I mean to say is, this book is so charming that for over a decade I've thought about it and wanted to finally read it fully. I'm glad I did. So endearing, so cute, and definitely will be finding the others in the series so my children can enjoy it the same way I did one day.

Super cute, light hearted read with a lovely ending!

I read this aloud to my children and they both enjoyed it, but this wasn't as fun a read for me as other books we've read together. The author does a lot of set up with no payoff as there are several paragraphs that begin with a threat - like the cats is prowling looking for them - and then all turns out well with little incident. This is not to say there is no conflict and I think the predictability is what my kids enjoyed about it (same reason I've been enjoying revisiting classic movies and books during quarantine). Overall, though, this wasn't my favorite chapter book for children.

Annabelle accidentally discovers Sarah's journal and wants to start searching her. Meanwhile a new family of doll's, the Funcrafts', move in to a room across the hall. Plastic and shiny the new dolls have different attitudes that Annabelle and her family but Annabelle is happy to finally have new people to talk with.

my review: I read Borrowers as a kid and that will always be my favorite "tiny people" fantasy book but I found this entertaining. The doll oath and doll state rules were interested...but also seemed a little plot-holey. all in a solid read

Found this at the thrift store and decided to give it another read as it was a favorite of mine when I was little! It was so fun to get to read again and I think a great book for kiddos to read:)

I read this as a kid and just finished reading it out loud to my 3 year old. He loved it, but I still think I loved it more :)
