This is one of those books that you pick up for a fun time and end up getting so much more. A truly beautiful story that touched every part of my soul. How can a book written by someone who doesn’t even know you have so many parts of you in it?! That’s the magic of reading and this story reminded of that.

On the surface this is a second chance romance between Harriet and Wynn who now have to pretend they are still together to save their friends’ vacation. And the love is definitely felt through the pages and they were the main force driving me to turn the pages. But it was also about friendship & family and trusting the important people in your life to keep loving you through the hard times and all of the changes life brings. About allowing relationships to evolve. And about finding your own happiness.

It has that lighthearted rom-com feeling, but prepare for some hard hitting emotional moments too. There were moments that tore up my heart and took a few crying breaks. But it’s so worth it in the end. Rest assured that there’s an HEA!

My heart ached through most of this book, but I loved it anyway. It’s only not a 5-star book for me because the miscommunication that led to the whole mess was so silly it seemed almost unrealistic. But still - so good.

I wanted to love this. I tried to love this. It was good, not great.

I liked Harriet's humor and that was about it for her. It was difficult to really connect with her.

I feel like everything could have been okay if literally every single person COMMUNICATED with one another. It was miscommunication after miscommunication.

Not my favorite. But not horrible. Just pretty meh.

Like even when something beautiful breaks, the making of it still matters.

Listen. I love Emily Henry and this book did not disappoint. I don’t know how a story about a couple going through a breakup made me pine for a relationship, but here I am. May we all have friends like Harriet’s and may we all find our own Wyn. Our own happy place.

I love the banter and tension!! The chemistry between Wyn and Harriet was 🥵

I related to both Wyn and Harriet a lot of times! I loved all the characters, getting to know them and watch them grow through the novel. I laughed, smiled, and cried but I think this is the first of Henry’s (so far) that’ll be rated under 5 stars 🙊

Around the 230 page mark I was so sick of the lack of communication!! This is essentially down to miscommunication being a main plot pointm, which I didn’t mind at first but eventually got so annoyed about it 😭

You’re in your 30s and had been together for nearly a decade!!!! YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO TALK FOR 5 MINUTES AND HAVE A CONVERSATION ABOUT YOUR FEELINGS?! I understood to an extent given their characters backgrounds but still if you’re dating and ENGAGED to someone for that long, you should be able to communicate and share your feelings and if you can’t then maybe you shouldn’t be together 😫

By the end, I kind of understood the miscommunication, given the background and character traits of both Harriet and Wyn. Also I think it frustrated me so much because I recognized myself and my past issues in their issues. I also liked the author reader guide to explain the choices because then it made more sense but I was still annoyed and think it went on longer than it should’ve.

I didn’t cry at the end like I normally do, I still marked a lot of passages and loved the characters but I didn’t have the same emotions quite like the other books I’ve read so far 😞 It was fun and easy to read with top tier banter as always but because of the miscommunication (that lasted waaay too long) it’s going to rank last for now.
