I found reading this book was more enjoyable if I thought of it as a work of fiction rather than a memoir. As a fictional work, the narrative becomes this quite interesting examination of contradictory queer experiences, politics and desires. When I remembered it was nonfiction, I found some of the reflections to be quite tedious in how they repeat the truisms that seem to emerge from living in London's queer scene(s).
