Love the story and the ideas. Last part of the book just felt too rushed for me - she just accepted sheās the siren without much real thought ā¦

I am very confused.
I picked this up for SYK day and when I saw posts about it on TikTok, I was intrigued. Now Iām just confused because this book is NOTHING like what the author put in her videos. This isnāt romantic, and it isnāt cute or light-hearted AT ALL.
I liked the premise and thought the plot was intriguing. Wren was a compelling character and I liked watching her learn to defend herself (even if it happened way too quickly). But girlā¦.romance where?! Iām throughly confused how this is classified as a romance and not a horror. I wouldnāt even call this RH because literally only one guy was nice to her, and he still broke her arm and ribs lmao. The big ārevealā was too obvious, and I was super annoyed that the others kept it a secret from her,l for no reason, like just tell her???
The more I read, the more frustrated I got. Iām sure there is an audience out there for this book, but itās not me

I felt quite hopeful that this book would be a somewhat interesting fantasy romance, but it fell quite flat. The character relationships were poorly fleshed out and the plot was moved along so quickly in such a short page count.Ā

This is a low 3 stars.
First of all I just wanna say this is not a great review, it's more a rant about the book.
I hated Benedict from beginning to end, not one time did I feel anything positive towards that man. I hated how the author passed over the fact that Benedict quite literally sexually assaulted FMC and she was just accepting of him. Really the only real reason I continued the book was for Kieran and Ronan, both of them were my darlings, nest boys.
The story building could have been better, but hƩlas it wasn't that great, the fact that she was the lost siren was a pretty classic trope but like at the end, when she discovered it... That was so weird, all of a sudden she has her powers and can be the queen that she is, bref, that was a mess.
I might read the second book at some point to see if there's character development
