Slow for a while but really picks up closer to the middle. To be fair, I was distracted by Stranger Things so it too me longer than usual to read this.

Conflicted about this one. I like the premise but the book was about 150 pages too long. Could've been tightened up a lot more. It took a very long time for the characters to even start to grow on me, they felt very trope-y at times. And the constant pity parties in the two leads got very annoying. The ending felt really rushed and I think ultimately this lacked depth for me, and there was too much telling and not enough doing. I will read the sequel at some point but it's not something I feel eager to dive into right away.

While reading the book, I kept seeing similarities to the Hunger Games series. The quote on page 174, “Hope was as much a disease as love was” really struck me, as well. I was not surprised when I finished the book and read the author was motivated to write the story after reading that and LOTR. I absolutely loved The Hunger Games trilogy, and with that knowledge and how good the first book was, I am excited to read the second.

I enjoyed the characters and hope to see more character growth and development in “We Free the Stars ⭐️ “. Overall I really enjoyed it. It was a quick read, so I recommend it for anyone short on time but looking for a good book to pick up!

I truly appreciate the use of Arabic and Arabian themes throughout the story too. Middle Eastern and Arabian culture is seriously underrepresented in pop/lit. I hope readers are inspired to learn more about the beauty of the Middle East and Arabian peninsula after reading this book.

This book was so slow. The two main characters don’t even meet each other until around page 200 and the entire thing is about 460 pages or so. 90% of that could be cut without affecting the story.
There were some good parts, but the overall pacing of the book detracted from anything positive about the story.

This book took me so long to finish (not because it wasn't interesting, and more because of a busy life), but it was so riveting. The way this book was written was like a movie in my head.
I adored Zafira. I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book.
Also, I'm giving this book four stars because of the ending.

DNF. Very pedestrian writing and terrible world building. Just because you change the name of some things does not mean you are being creative. Very disappointed.
