Adorable and beautifully written. Gave me so many feelings, remembering my fandom days- Moreland paid homage in a way that feels really special. My one weird is that this feels like it was a new adult and that the characters had to be aged down. Otherwise, super cuuute YA.

This book has been on my tbr for years so I'm glad I finally got to it.

It Goes Like This is the second book I read by Miel Moreland. After reading Something Like Possible I really wanted to read another book by her. And I really liked it a lot.

This book is about four queer teens who used to be in a very popular band. The band broke up and now a year and a half later, their birthtown had an disaster so they're performing once again for a benefit concert.

The four main characters are Eva, Celeste, Gina and Steph. The book is in four POVs.

Eva is the most prominent POV. She's the most hurt when the band broke up. She lost the band, her friends but also her girlfriend who broke up with her. Now she's in college and she's also songwriting for other artists.

Celeste, Eva's ex girlfriend, has a solo career now. She never got over Eva and most songs she writes are about her.

Gina is an actress now. She left the band because she wanted to focus on acting.

Steph stepped out of the spotlight after they left the band to take care of their family. They do still love making music but feels like their family is more important.

This whole book is about them realizing they still enjoy making music together, they have some conversations they has to had ages ago.

I really did enjoy this book. I do think it dragged a little but it's ok. It's a very fast read and I wish I read this two years ago when the book just came out.

I'm glad this book is a hit with so many people but this was a miss for me. So many of the characters are crap friends and this amazing friendship that the book touts is like a unicorn because we readers never see it.

I am also not convinced this is YA. Yes, it hops through time to when characters were 15ish to present day 19-20ish but this just feels like a half hearted attempt to make a Daisy Jones and the Six for a younger audience. Sadly, it doesn't work.

A lot of this book is the same thing over and over -- two characters pining over each other, one character trying to decide if music or acting is her path, and another character who wants to martyr themself with their family -- I was exasperated by these character thoughts and it was tiring.

I loved this with all my heart. These characters are realistic and lovable. Steph is the best one out of all. They were the one that had to deal with the most stress and I felt so bad.

I wish I loved this more than I did! This book sounded like the perfect book for me. A book about a queer band, almost like a fanfic. And it was kinda like a fanfic. I could definitely see some resemblance with some Larry Stylinson fanfics that I have read. But it was an average fanfic. I had fun reading it, but it wasn't really special to me.

Great non-binary representation though!

Read in Audio: The way this shows a group making it past teenagers in the spot light to adults. How to re-navigate the friendships and rebuild them. The romance with the will they won't they, healing wounds, and owning up to their mistakes. Being adult to talk about it. There are so many themes in this that are so important along with the diversity.

This book is definitely one I'd recommend to others but didn't have that something special I need for a 5 star read.
