Good story line but explicit sex.

ARC review:
I loved this!

While mixed with romance and comedy are my favorite things, this story offers so much to readers. During the popular times of "50 Shades" styled novels, Charming You brings out the classy, heartfelt storyline, while still getting steamy. This is definitely worth reading.

Micky Llewelyn knew when Nick Halden entered her life something was about to change. Nick, claims he is single but he is hiding something, she just isn't sure what. What starts off as a friendship, quickly changes to something more and both Micky and NIck find themselves falling for one another.

Nick though had a plan for his life and it had a certain type of woman with connections that can help further his career, Micky is not that. When he is expected to find out information for the company Micky works for, Nick knows he is playing her a bit and she is not one to give you immediate trust. As Nick delves farther in, he begins to realize his life may take a turn that could lead to happiness. That is if he can prove he is worth it to Micky.

Had a few unexpected twists. I liked this story a bunch. Micky is a hoot, she is blunt and I loved the interaction with Nick. Nick is a man with a dream but you get that he realizes it is not without lacking something in return, I thought the development of his character was fantastic. Look forward to the next story, looks to be equally as good.

Our two MCs have a sort of meet-cute moment - her car has a dead battery and she is in a parking garage waiting for a tow, he works in her building and has a set of jumper cables. He gives her his business card and says she "owes him a drink".

Micky is recently dumped by a guy who lied to her about being married, and she hasn't had much luck with good, decent boyfriends.

When she lets her friends know who saved her dead car battery, she learns that Nick is engaged. Since it's just drinks, when she goes out with him, she learns he's actually been recently separated from his girlfriend/fiancee almost 4-months ago and she refuses to talk to him.

Still she is wary of him and upset with his laid-back attitude about women, in general.

There is a weird back-n-forth between our MCs, until we learn that Nick may have his girlfriend/fiancee back, after all. She does need to talk to him about a sensitive situation.

Nick is also...a "social climber"; he comes from a poor-to-middle class background and wants to bump elbows with rich folks, so he is in business with his sometimes on-sometimes off girlfriend/fiancee's father.

Nick is a lawyer in a huge firm and deals with mergers and acquisitions...and unfortunately when things go south with his ON/OFF Ex and he starts seeing Micky...he also had wanted to use her to get some information about the company she worked for who was in the middle of a possible merger or a buyout.

Here is where the Drama Angst picks up because Nick can't pull his head from his ass before he f*cks shit up with Nicky... she learns of his lies and deceptions but eh, this is called "Charming You" and Nick does charm his way back into Micky's good graces.

Frankly, hmm...I needed a lot more groveling and away-time from him. He was doing a ton of underhanded shady shit in front of her face while also sleeping with her, which means he was slowly but surely sabotaging HER LIFE & CAREER...and also, because of a secret situation with his On/Off Ex he was still keeping her in his life where she was still saying BS about their engagement & possible wedding...ugh, men are insufferable bastards...

Charming You was full of skepticism and suspicion. Micky had been burned by some loser men in the past and let her hurt color everything in her future. When Nick came along like a tall, hot drink of water, she was willing to die of thirst. It was frustrating a lot of the time, but sort of understandable. Who wouldn't be scared to jump back on the horse after being bucked? Nick did have some secrets, ones that could hurt Micky's fragile little heart. However, he was mostly a great guy. Micky was a bit harder to like, only because she was in her mid-thirties and had the thoughts and behavior of someone much younger. And I did skim quite a bit of this story because of it... But overall, this was an okay read. I wish the buildup of the relationship didn't take the entire book to come to fruition, but I'm no author, so what do I know?
