This was more character driven than the previous volume. Roger tells Mia everyone's stories, making her doubt their involvement in her father's murder.

There is still no resolution on that front but we are introduced to a new compelling mystery.

Like the previous volume, the artwork was A+. Absolutely gorgeous watercolors.

The end of volume one left the entire remaining cast in a perilous position (as many a good action serial does) but rather than notch-up the action for volume two, we instead get an extended investigation of the remaining characters' motives. It's almost all-tell, no show, as every issue is the story of two characters whose history and motivations are explained in exposition boxes while we see their actions in their current environments. It shouldn't work. When your two main characters are at the brink of death, you rarely succeed when they spend four entire issues trying to determine who put them in the position. But it totally did work for me.

Matt and [a:Sharlene Kindt|15183974|Sharlene Kindt|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/u_50x66-632230dc9882b4352d753eedf9396530.png]'s art is perfectly haunting for this story. If you're looking for a good sci-fi mystery with believable characters, I highly suggest this series.

Heavy on exposition and background, light on plot development. Still beautiful and interesting, but not as compelling as the first volume.

V2 keeps up the tension of the first volume, opening with Mia trapped with Roger (her father's partner) in a flooded part of the underwater lab. The volume is a mix of character backstory with current action around Jerome, the crazy scientist who seems to have found a cure but is hard to understand and control. Lily and Q are at odds, and we find out about some of their shared history too. Finally, we are introduced to a ghost diver that seems to represent Mia's relationship with her father. Still good, only complaint would be that it is becoming a tad heavy on the exposition and less concentrated on the here-and-now action.

While volume 2 is slow and doesn’t reveal much, I’m on board for the rest of the ride. Lots of conversations, silent sequences, and, of course, water.
