I was immensely disappointed in this book. It should really be a one star, but was not a complete failure of a book. I wasn't pleased at all with how everything was thrown together. It seemed like a lot of mashed up ideas into one book and different interesting aspects showed up and were gone without much explanation. Plus, she takes away our two favorite characters from the war at hand and it really wasn't necessary to do. Not only did it take them away from the action, nothing really big or important happened in the god realm. You had the introduction of the cute little darklings, but those things could have easily happened even if she was there fighting in the war effort. Moving the book from the mortal realm to the god realm took the book from high level of interest and action (skinners) to it becoming boring and immensely slow-paced (stuck for days in parent's cabin) in comparison. The book builds up to this big war, but we see pretty much none of it. Just really disappointing.

This is a re-read. I've always found this a nice conclusion to the series. Everything finally comes together and Daine really comes into her power.
My favorite part of this book is Daine and Numier getting to meet Kitten's family.
My favorite part of this book is Daine and Numier getting to meet Kitten's family.
Graphic: Injury/Injury detail, Classism, War, and Violence
Moderate: Adult/minor relationship
Minor: Death, Death of parent, Fire/Fire injury, Grief, and Animal death
Spoiler
In this book Daine and Numier finally become a couple. While I didn't think much of it as a kid, re-reading it as an adult, I'm very aware of the probably at least 10 year age gap between the 15/16 year old Daine and Numierkendrasquill's review against another edition
