I struggled to get through this book. It was by far one of the most depressing books I have ever read.

I fell for London when I first read about her birth. Russ was a busy dad trying hard to make a living while the mom, Vivian, seemed to think money grew on trees. She was not as likable as the other character. She was self-centered and I found myself disliking almost everything she did.

I loved the way the story unfolded with Russ and Marge and their parents. The love the family had for each other was so genuine and true.

I felt joy, happiness, a sense of loss, hope, sadness and then my heart broke into a thousand pieces. Love once again brought me back to find hope for the future. Love of parents for their children, love children have for their parents, sibling love, love parents have for each other, couple love as well as new love and old love all have places in this novel.

Nicholas Sparks knows how to draw the reader into his stories. For me, a fan of his work, I have never been disappointed!

Fantastic story both heart-warming and heart-breaking. It's about relationships on all sorts of levels in a man's life. I listened to the audio which was superbly done.

I have read several Nicholas Sparks books, and I was mad at this book pretty early on. That emotion of disappointment at the unnecessarily awful characters never went away. The ending/resolution also felt rushed. Also, Sparks killed the only character in the book I actually liked. I understand that when you choose to read a Nicholas Sparks book there is 97% chance of a main character dying. I was not upset that someone died because I figured someone would. I was upset because the only character who was a decent person was killed, and it was completely unnecessary to fulfill the plot. It just felt like he wanted to continue the pattern and that character was expendable.

I really loved this story by Nicholas Sparks. How does this man write with such beautiful ease!? I absolutely fell for the main character and his little girl. Found myself so invested in what happened to this family. The feels just flowed through me throughout the entire book but especially the ending, that heartbreaking ending. So good! I could not stop turning the pages of this one, many sleepless nights due to "just one more chapter". So great! One of my favorites ever, ever!

Not one of my favorites from Nicholas Sparks. It still managed to get me to shed some tears, but overall I wasn't quite satisfied by the end of the book like some other novels I've read. Still overall liked the book though!
