Beautiful illustrations. More of the same dark and quirky story. Delightful read. Not sure if/when I'll be reading these with the kids though.

Not as creepy as the first one, but there are definitely some unsettling parts. I don't think the multiple endings worked as well in this one vs. the first one. Excellent illustrations.

I don't even know what to classify this as, other than "awesome." I am seriously tempted to add an "awesome" shelf on my Goodreads list... This is an odd book. When I heard about a picture book for adults, I had to at least check it out, and it was worth it. Subtle humor and a fun story that takes me back to my childhood, but not all at the same time.

Worth a read if you want something odd, and definitely if you want something short (I read this on my 15 minute snack break). And apparently it's a series! Excuse me while I go search out the first book. =)

The Princess has a little brother that's she's not too fond of. She does follow him into the deep, down dark to rescue him from the goblins. She's able to kill all the goblins, no problem, but is afraid of the dark. Luckily, her little brother will solve that problem for her.

I enjoyed the extended world building in this sequel. I also enjoyed the illustrations more, which seemed less stiff.

Equal parts delightful and disturbing. Patrick Rothfuss' writing and script show that he has a twisted soul, but it is artist Nate Taylor who really makes this book what it is with his beautiful and playful illustrations that so perfectly capture the spirit of this horror fairytale.

I'm glad other reviewers said to try this sequel. even if you didn't like the first. This was more what I was expecting with a more complex story line, and a sense of purpose to the story. I can't figure out what bugs me about the illustrations. They just seem like drafts now ready to embellish.

While not as jaw-dropping as the original, this follow-up had charm and humor and was a perfectly enjoyable way to spend twenty minutes.
