I was enjoying this aside from a couple of minor niggles like why the fuck Black doesn’t give Miri any concrete information about their race or anything else and why Miri lets him get away with not telling her anything pertinent and then something happens which basically kills the books for me
Spoiler Miri is captured by the bad guys and repeatedly raped in both body and mind over several days
Spoiler For me that is a deal breaker. Usually I stop reading at that point so the fact that I finished it is a testament to how good the story was. I just hate the thing that happened so much (plus I learnt my lesson and read reviews for book 3 that seem to indicate something similar happening to another character in that one) so I wont be reading on.

warning: rape

spoiler review:
Spoiler anytime sex or sex related things come up in these books its just really uncomfortable- even between the main couple. Also, did we really learn ANYTHING concrete about seers in this book? No.
More- 'later, baby' excuses.

I sped through the first four of these (the ones that were out at the time) in an entire day and evening. They're just as addicting and refreshing as everything else Andrijeski has written, but isn't quite as heavy as the Allie's War series. I REALLY loved the cultural disconnect between Quentin and Miri, and their attempts to communicate!
