Engrossing. If you like angels, YA coming of age themes, and a clean story this is for you.

Great story with fun characters that all grow naturally and believably. I find myself really enjoying Strong's literary worlds. The series are clean with no sex or over the top violence but still dig into all of the emotions a person can and does experience. Especially the uncertainty venturing into unknown relationships, adventures and skills. It is a refreshing change of pace, because sometimes less really is more. I enjoy being able to get lost in the incredible story without wading through drawn out, too detailed intimacy. This series is based in Christian biblical lore, erring on the side of the mystical aspects. Gnostic even. I am not a Christian and I stilled this series! There is no heavy underlying push of doctrine either!! However, I do need to mention the one drawback with this particular book in the series: book 2 is rife with editing issues no one seemed to catch pre-release. And I am not someone who usually cares a great deal over these things, as they're pretty easy to overlook and usually not an interference to the plot. But they did get so numerous at about halfway through, that they began to detract from the book overall. Having to re-read to make sense of mixed up pov narration-flipping from first to third, internal character dialogue mixed in with the narrative voice, typos... all of that said, I am still looking forward to book 3!
