Webster City has gone and Carl Davidson leaves the ruins with his brother, Ted, girlfriend, Helen, and Ted's adopted son, Philip. They plan to head across the broken country to Ted's farm in Kansas. But it's not an easy journey through a dystopian landscape of a destroyed world trying to eke out an existence. There is danger every where and one can never not be on their guard. But things are no better when they reach the farm and learn that the area is being raided by outlaws and they have to fight. This doesn't go well and Carl is shot. However, this reveals an even bigger secret and that evil societies can take more than one form.

Though this is not a very long book, it is an excellent next chapter in the series. I really enjoyed this as it's straightforward, easy to read with lots of action.

Hopefully there will be more.
