“Eu nu sunt filozof, dar cred că Oskar Schindler reprezintă definiția eroismului. El este dovada că un singur om poate da piept cu răul și poate produce o schimbare. Eu sunt dovada vie a acestui lucru.”

For such a short story of just 240 pages and only 10 chapters, this one packs a lot into it. It was fast-paced and kept my interest from start to finish. A memoir wrote in first person by Leon Leyson, a Jewish person, and his experience with Oskar Schindler and WWII. I listened to this story, and the narrator did a wonderful job, but the actual book has photos and letters that I would have liked to have seen. This was well written for any age.

I remember watching Schindler’s List and this story just brought back all of the sad stories that they include.
The way this is written is perfect for struggling readers because it is easy to read and the history is brought to life.
Before I read this, I was book talking it to students and they would always ask why is it called the boy on the wooden box and I was reply read to find out. Now I know.

I read this book for school. It was written extremely well. The fact that it was assigned just took away a bit of the enjoyment.
Graphic: Child abuse, Antisemitism, and War
