I started reading this book as part of a DEI discussion for my job. That was back in March or April and I am just now finishing this book. This is not a reflection on the quality of the work. This was well-researched and each chapter included a 'personal story' to anchor the readers and drive home how messed up our healthcare system is. I think this is something everyone should read. It is accessible and feels like a primer for a more thorough exploration of racism and the American medical industry. I like that the final chapter was meant to uplift and inspire the readers. But overall, many of the chapters paint a dire picture of the current medical system.
