i think i may have been able to appreciate this book more if i read it in the original chinese/cantonese, but unfortunately i suck at my mother tongue. 

a solid thriller, definitely ahead of its publication time (2017). this was very close to home as a novel set in hong kong and dealing with siblings growing up in a working-class family, along with all the familial trouble and expectations that come with it. siu-man's experience as a student bottling up negative emotions in favor of good grades and appearances while struggling with bonding with friends, only posting her true emotions in an online journal of sorts, definitely resonated with me. nga-yee was a mixture of your typical technologically incompetent aunt and your nagging asian parent who nevertheless cares for you in a tough love sort of way, and seeing her bond with N

, was both entertaining and mutually nurturing. 

i definitely enjoyed reading this a lot, but kind of as a one-time suspense. the rating is 3.75 mainly because

the ending had some cliches (e.g. protagonist goes from rags to riches thanks to wealthy friend made along the way. yay!!) and i did NOT know who christopher song was, nor why he was suddenly introduced and made things right. if he was foreshadowed, i didn't see it

. now that some time has passed since reading, there's definitely more than a few cliches in this story. but it's not bad at all, definitely don't regret this being my first introduction to chan ho-kei. i might reread again just because of the characters who hit close to home for me.

omg omg words cant describe how much i love this book!
tbh cyber investigation isnt my cup of tea but this book magically amaze me. penyelidikan yg seru buat diikutin, well built character, kritik sosial yg ngena BANGET, lil touch of psychology and profiling. hadu hadu haduuu and there's twist over twist aaaaaaaaaa much love!!!

kaya hhhh bagus bgt mau baca terus tapi di sisi lain  sayang bgt kalo langsung abis ntar ga nemu cerita bagus lagi huhuhu 
kata gue worth the hype si emang lah soalnya emang beneran bagus hiksss

N tuh mirip2 Sherlock gitu deh tengilnya, nyebelinnya, sombongnya astaga minta digeplak si tapi ya untungnya emg beneran pro. 

trus jujur tuh kaget bgt pas tau N ternyata slajnbhjhjdkj soalnya gue kejebak sama narasi author dan malah ngira pendiri yg ga pernah nongol itu si N haha

di sisi lain, Nga-Yee juga mirip2 dr. Watson yg kepo, sabar ngadepin partnernya dan dipandang bego sama partnernya juga hahahaha

AND I REALLY LOVE HER CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!!!! the way she handle the "revenge" omggg sumpah dia berbesar hati buat maafin christopher dan adeknya. NGA YEE BEST GIRLLLLL!!!!

did i mention about social critique and philosophycal question about society???
isu2 yg dibahas keren sumpah huaaaa suka bangettt!!!! apalagi settingnya di hongkong! khas metropolitan di mana lo liat orang2 kaya nge wine sampe muntah2 tapi kalo lo minggir dikit ya nemu aja tuh kaum2 yg sewa apartemen kecil aja meronta2
TMI TAPI JUJURRRR deskripsi makanannya bikin ngilerrr huhuhuhu

big-book-fear yang gue punya seketika ilang dah pas baca ini soalnya kisahnya enjoy bgt buat diikutin
pokoknya keren bgtt huhuhuhu gatau gimana mau lagi mujinya huhuhu my compliment to the chef!!!

This was actually rly good, it took a lot of turns that werent always unpredictable, i just didnt expect it to go there
