I could not put this book down! I loved the world building and the story line. But most of all I loved Darien and his character development.

His growing love for Loren is written like a dream. The only things I didn’t like were that the main focus was on the romantic relationship and not as much on the plot. I also found it hard to believe how quickly Loren healed in the end even though she was covered in bruises and scrapes and almost drowned…I also didn’t understand why the Widow said that she would die if she used her power but then ends up being absolutely fine after having used it.

I only finished this because of the high praise Erica (@_ericasbookshelf_) gave this for having a spicy exhibitionist scene on par with ACOMAF. Nope.

More for those who enjoy dark urban fantasy with mafia and crime detecting vibes

This took far too long to follow through with the romance and the sex only came in the final chapters.  Ch 61 ffs.

the plot was convoluted and messy.

The hyperbole was foolish. For example. A 5000mile radius of the bomb would mean the entirety of Earth. Radius is half the diameter of a circle. And the distance of 5000miles is more than the flight path from London to Beijing.

The homophobic banter between men was tiresome. And the use of baby girl, baby, girl, and the description of school clothes (short pleated skirts) just gave me the ick. The MMC was a cliche of cliches. And I was not invested in the characters. The nameless crone in the fountain was the most interesting to me.

And a fecking deus ex machina approach to apocalyptic plot.
