This book couldâve been so perfect but sadly it wasnât.
I got to about 60% before I had to start skim reading it, and went back to actually reading it at around 75% because it just made the book drag on so much, it physically hurt. There were scenes that just felt pointless or just dragged on for no apparent reason, and I feel like this book wouldâve been so much better if it was around 500 pages rather than 700+. Also, there were so many side people that it was so hard to remember who was who and what they did.Â
On the good side, I did like most of the characters; Max and Jack are the best devils, you canât convince me otherwise. The reason I kept reading because I enjoyed the dynamics between the devils and how they all look out for each other. However, Dallas was as important as a chocolate teapot in the end, despite her and Loren being âsistersâ, whilst Sabine became and after thought and even when they found her, she pretty much disappeared into thin air. Yes, Loren did get annoying in some parts of the book but sheâs an emotionally driven person whoâs highly vulnerable in a world of immortals, so I could brush over that.Â
The pining was good though, Iâll give the book that - itâs definitely a slow burn.Â
Overall, I did like the whole concept and ideas of this book but I feel like this definitely couldâve been shorter.Â
