This was one hell of an epic and one I’m glad I finally got around to reading - it’s well worth the 1000 pages. I loved learning about Georgian history. Whilst there were lots of individual characters I felt invested in, something I’ve realised something that I generally really need from a historical novel is a love story to get behind. Across five generations, there wasn’t a single romance I could root for. A lot of other really strong and interesting relationships, but if it had had even one love story for this romantic reader, it would have pushed it up to a 5 for sure.
